Alarm Systems (Automated Intrusion Detection)

These products have been around for decades to residential, commercial, military and government users. They are constantly being updated and are very affordable. Beacon offers its favourite brand of intrusion, DSC by Johnson Controls. We service most makes and models but prefer to install and support DSC for our clients.

Many companies offer long-term and binding contracts where you have to pay out the inflated cost of the gear, even if you are not satisfied with the system or the service. We prefer to sell you the gear so you can control who services it and who monitors it. No strings. The hardware for a typical 8 zone, single keypad, wired system using a landline is approximately $400. Cell units (skip the landline) are $125 typically and cost only $5-$7 per month more than a traditional system to monitor.

Video Surveillance Systems (Cameras plus Network Video Recorder)

Cameras are always improving and so are the options to monitor what is going on in your environment. We feature commercial brands like AVTech, Uniview, Hikvision (when available), Hanwha, CPCam, and others. We are able to service most brands. We can also help you install retail cameras like the offerings from Amazon Blink for a different kind of security experience that is smartphone and cloud driven.

Hardware for a typical 4 camera system with a good quality NVR with a 1 terabyte hard drive costs approximately $1400 before labour and taxes. Labour completely depends on how easy it is to run the single network cable to each camera.

Hardware for an Amazon Blink system varies but if you catch a sale you can get a 3 outdoor WIRELESS camera package for around $200 and utilize their surprisingly good full person/vehicle detection analytics for $15 a month – with alerts right to your smartphone. Our commercial systems can do that as well and have far greater local storage than these cloud-based systems (with no monthly fees).

Through our sister company, Six Technologies Victoria, we can also offer affordable video monitoring with state-of-the-art analytics and Artificial Intelligence for your medium to long term projects. Single camera residential analytic monitoring is approximately $55 per camera per month. Complex, full-service included, ULC monitoring with full AI and analytics and live operators can run between $150 and $250 per month per camera – usually used on construction sites for insurance warranty purposes and immediate trespasser notification and control.

Intercom Systems for Controlled Access (condos, apartments, assisted living, etc.)

Mircom, AI Phone, Linear, Kantech, SES, Door King, and other systems are affordable and luxury options for your multi-family building or business. Our team can convert your old intercom to a system that can call any phone or work over the internet using a smartphone app. We also do new construction installs. We can service most brands of intercoms and we can integrate them with your favourite FOB/CARD access control system or handicap door operator.

Intercom systems typically cost between $1500 and $3000 for the hardware. A popular and common TX3-2000 Mircom, including all hardware, a cover panel for the old hole, LABOUR, and programming/training is under $3000 before taxes.

Access Control Systems (card readers, electric strikes, fobs, transmitters)

Kantech, CDVI, Keyscan, Salto (pending) and other access control systems are a great way to control and monitor access to your business, strata property, rental building, assisted living facility, medical center, office, warehouse, school or military base. Our team is trained to integrate with most systems including intercoms and handicap door operators. We can service MOST access control brands as long as we have a relationship with their 2nd tier support. Our common ones are listed above. We are local and prompt professional service is our priority.

Pricing on these units varies wildly but, in most cases, access control typically costs between $800 and $1500 per door. Costs can be higher if just a couple of doors are in scope for your project or the wiring is difficult. Integration with a handicap door operator is usually a little extra ($300).
